About.

I pride myself on my book collection, but in June of 2011, I decided it needed a major organizational overhaul. We’d begun stacking books willy-nilly, shoving book jackets in a mail divider, and even leaving them laying around in OTHER ROOMS. If I thought about it for too long, I’d start to hyperventilate. Once I start hyperventilating, I need a cocktail and I usually want to settle in for a read. The disarray catches my eye and it’s just a huge vicious cycle.

SO.

I took all the books off the shelves, made my husband build the new shelves we needed and set to work. I sorted, I stacked, I scanned. And before I knew it, the entire library was in beautiful condition, both on the shelves and online.

But there was something I just couldn’t escape. There, plain as day, as an embarrassingly long list of books I’d never read. Right there on my shelves. I wouldn’t stand for it–couldn’t stand for it.

And For the Love of Pages was born.

I’ll be working through the unread books on my shelves, one (or maybe two) at a time, and blogging about it here. I could wax on about how I hope to find meaning and a better understanding of myself, but I mostly want to test my patience, do something fun and write about it.

And here we are. Join me, won’t you?
